Mission Statement

Back pain, neck pain, and headaches are the most common reasons why Canadians first consult a chiropractor. Every time you overdo, there’s a small amount of damage done to your spine. Vertebrae (the bones of the spine) can slip out of position or move improperly as muscles pull. In a few days the muscles heal, the pain eases, yet the vertebrae stay out of place, creating a chronic but unfelt vertebral distortion. This causes pressure on nerves and sensitive tissues and can lead to fixation (a sticking together) of two or more vertebrae. When the position and movement of vertebrae become distorted there is abnormal pressure on the disc and joints. Eventually the joints deteriorate into a condition called degenerative joint disease. You may know this as arthritis (comparable to a car becoming rusty). Constant lifting, bending, poor posture, etc., put consistent stress on your joints. It’s usually not the one big thing that you did, but the many small and repetitive things that you do. Of

Case history: Jane's chair caused her injury.

A case history: Jane (name changed, yadda..), a valued employee of a leading local business institution, came to see me about pain that had progressively developed in her lower back over the past year. There was no particular event to account for her discomfort, yet by the end of a work week, she was very happy for the weekend to get some relief. This was an important clue. Through insightful discussion, I understood that Jane spent a good deal of her job seated at her desk and working with a computer. I asked Jane to demonstrate her work posture and it became evident that her habits at work put excessive strain on her back… over time, the strain was developing into a chronic injury. We discussed modifications Jane could make to her desk, chair and computer arrangement… she found and liberated a better chair from an absent coworker. Jane found to her delight, that with chiropractic treatment, a better chair and new work habits to prevent ongoing injury, she was no longer worn rag

Welcome Wagon.

Dear Neighbour: As a Welcome Wagon sponsor and an unofficial representative of Collingwood’s health care providers, I extend my welcome to the neighbourhood. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you. In Collingwood, we have all the day-to-day conveniences and entertainment of a larger city without the distance and rush to get anywhere. Shopping and the cinema are only minutes away. The summer theatre is excellent. From my door I can be at the south end of Blue and ready to ski, or hiking on the Bruce trail, in ten minutes. The waterfront is five minute bike ride away. I enjoy the atmosphere of the smaller community and when I want to get away from it all… I am! As a personal introduction, I am originally from Scarborough and have resided in Collingwood for some 24 years now. It has been great to make a home here, raise a family, and serve the community. My interests have ranged through being an assistant soccer coach for my kids’ teams, Beaver and Cub Scout leader, help
